Bayswater Toy Library
Who are we...
The Bayswater Toy Library is a not-for-profit community organisation that has been providing fun and educational toys since 1985.
The library is coordinated by a committee and is completely run by volunteers.
As part of their membership, members agree to help out with rosters every 6 to 8 weeks and at stocktake time in January. We also encourage members to help out with the general running of the library in any way they can.
Members can borrow a range of toys and activities suitable for 0-7 including good quality educational, constructive and imaginative toys which are continually updated. We have over 1200 toys, divided into sections for babies, imagination, construction, art, dress ups, science, motors, dolls, sports, jigsaws and games. There are also parenting books and party boxes.
Each child can borrow up to four items across the categories and there are additional toys and parent resources allowed per family, which is all included as part of the membership fees.
Why use a toy library?
Borrowing toys is a great money saver as it gives children a change when they become bored with their own toys, and is a way for parents to try toys before buying them. It also saves on space in the home, knowing they can be returned, especially large toys such as ride-on cars and outdoor play equipment! There are also benefits such as teaching children care and responsibility for property.
You don't have to be a mum or dad either, we have grandparents who use our library too.
Our library was fortunate to receive a Bendigo Bank grant for $750 to buy new toys.
Thank you Bendigo Bank.
We would also like to thank the City of Bayswater and McGillivray's Accountants for their continuous support.
